The name Casa das Lendas – House of Legends reflects its special setting. Olhão is a town shaped by stories, traditions and legends passed down through generations. Its historic centre is known for its maze of narrow streets, whitewashed houses, small squares and unexpected corners, each contributing to the distinctive character of this old fishing town. Casa das Lendas sits right within this atmospheric part of Olhão, making it a wonderful base from which to experience the town on foot.

A House Designed for Two

Casa das Lendas is arranged over several levels and has been designed primarily as a comfortable and atmospheric retreat for two guests. A sofa bed in the living room provides additional sleeping space for a child or third guest when required.

On entering the house, you arrive in a surprisingly spacious and welcoming entrance hall. To the right is the generous bedroom, designed as a calm and comfortable place to retreat after a day exploring Olhão and the Algarve. On this level you will also find the main bathroom with walk-in shower and toilet.

From the entrance, the staircase takes you to the main living floor. Here, the house opens into a bright and inviting living room and kitchen, creating a relaxed space for cooking, dining and spending time together. From the rooftop terrace, the view stretches across the maze of flat rooftops and the church towers. As the sun sets, the city turns golden and the distant islands seem to float above the horizon.

The sitting area has a comfortable sofa, while the kitchen provides everything needed for an easy holiday stay. A separate guest toilet on this floor adds extra convenience.

Every floor of Casa das Lendas is air-conditioned, making the house comfortable during the warm Algarve summers as well as during cooler winter evenings.Throughout the property, authentic character is combined with modern comfort and carefully considered interiors. The result is a holiday home that feels personal and atmospheric rather than simply another rental property. One of the great advantages of Casa das Lendas is its location.

Step outside and you are immediately part of historic Olhão, a town famous for its cubist architecture, fishing heritage, lively waterfront and distinctive covered markets. Wander through the narrow streets of the old town, stop at a local café, discover small restaurants and shops, or walk towards the waterfront and Olhão’s famous markets. From here, boats depart for the islands and beaches of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, including Armona, Culatra and Farol.

Your Private Rooftop in Olhão

Continue upstairs and you arrive at perhaps the most enjoyable part of Casa das Lendas: its private rooftop terrace.The terrace offers a wonderful outdoor space above the rooftops of old Olhão, with comfortable seating for relaxing in the Algarve sunshine, enjoying a morning coffee or sitting outside with a glass of wine as the evening begins.A small private swimming pool makes the rooftop particularly special. It is the perfect place to cool down on warm summer days without leaving the privacy of the house.

Alongside Casa das Lendas, we also welcome guests to Casa Salá, our second holiday home in the historic heart of Olhão. Both houses share the things we believe make a stay special: character, privacy, carefully considered interiors and the freedom to step outside and immediately become part of everyday Olhão. Yet each house has its own personality. Casa das Lendas takes its inspiration from the stories and legends hidden within the old streets of Olhão — with its intimate spaces and private rooftop pool creating a little world of its own. Casa Salá offers a different interpretation of life in Olhão, but with the same emphasis on atmosphere, comfort and authentic surroundings.
